Keeping your lights on when it counts.

Joe Ezzell started Ezzell Electric in 1976. In that economy it was tough to find a job, so he made one. He began working on starters and alternators. In the early 1980s he transitioned into power generation. He began his working relationship with Cummins, which was Onan at the time. He educated himself through attending Cummins training courses offered through the factory. His first customers were in the Agriculture market and over the next 40 years he worked hard in perfecting his craft.

He was a hometown man and looked after his customers personally. Nancy, his wife, recalls on more than one occasion he received a call in the middle of the night and after getting his bearings told the customer to hold the phone up to the generator so he could hear it... and he was able to walk them through fixing the issue.

He made his name his brand. It stood for personal, knowledgeable service and integrity. People called him when no one else had an answer.

Joe Ezzell passed away on October 6, 2016, the day before Hurricane Matthew hit North Carolina. It turned out to be the worst hurricane that the state had seen in almost 20 years. As an emergency power business, it is only by the grace of God that Ezzell Electric survived; God’s grace and loyal employees.

Joe’s passing placed Ezzell Electric in the hands of his wife, Nancy and daughters Nancy Jo and Natalee. Nancy worked with Joe in the early years of the business. She worked with him managing the office and their home. She was the strength he needed. Together, they built this business.

Nancy Jo received her Bachelor’s of Arts and  Master of Business Administration from Campbell University’s Lundy-Fetterman School of Business. Upon graduation in 2009, she began working at Ezzell Electric. Natalee received her Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Campbell University’s Lundy- Fetterman School of Business and joined her sister after her father’s passing in 2016.

Ezzell Electric, now Ezzell Power Generation, is powering the next generation by continuing to focus on service and expansion into the residential, whole home generator market. Ezzell Power Generation is a Platinum KOHLER dealer with the experience, training and support to ensure your power is always on.
